How the vest works
A vest that listens to the heart. Machine learning algorithms that hear what the human ear cannot.
The vest
A world first. No multi-sensor acoustic vest for detecting coronary artery disease is commercially available anywhere.
- Six embedded acoustic sensors over the chest
- Simultaneous recording for one minute
- Advanced background noise removal
- Can be used in a typical ward environment
How it works
Why heart sounds reveal a blockage
1
Narrowed arteries make turbulence
Blood forced through a narrowed artery produces faint sounds no ear can hear.
2
Six sensors capture them
Recording from several positions at once separates the signal from noise.
3
Software recognises the pattern
Models trained on angiography-confirmed cases return a screening indication.
If the vest indicates possible coronary artery disease, the person is referred for further tests. The vest does not make a diagnosis.
Safety
Safety and design
Non-invasiveNothing enters the body. Safe, non-invasive.
PassiveThe sensors only listen. USB powered, no battery, no electrical energy to the patient.
RegulatoryWorking towards medical regulatory approval.
